We thought we were done with teaser images of the 2013 SRT Viper, but Chrysler’s performance division just pushed another image onto its official Facebook page.
We’ve already seen the car’s badge, what appears to be the front end, a Hot Wheels model, and the gear shifter. This time SRT has taken to Facebook and posted the last of its teasers, a head-on view of the car. We can see the front end, complete with the carbon fiber heat extractors from the earlier teaser photo, a NACA-duct-inspired front grille, and little else. This being an SRT Viper, the teaser car is painted a very, very bright shade of red.
Looking at the Hot Wheels car and teaser, expect to see a new Viper that looks subtly different than the old one: it will largely retain the same shape, but will feature much more carbon fiber and will even have LED running lights. Beneath the new exterior, the 2013 Viper will likely be business as usual: a big, honking V-10, possibly displacing as much as 8.7 liters, could provide as much as 650 hp. A six-speed manual transmission has been spotted in previous teaser photos, and rear-wheel-drive will remain the only driveline configuration. The fun will be kept somewhat in check, since the car will adopt traction and stability controls for the first time – albeit mainly to appease a new federal mandate.
